Nurse Practitioner Educational Requirements

An education to become a nurse practitioner will begin with becoming a registered nurse first. A registered nurse has to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree.

The next step to becoming a nurse practitioner is to get your Master’s of Science Degree in Nursing through a two year graduate program. During these two years, some courses like pharmacology, advanced anatomy, diagnoses of common illnesses and ailments and medical ethics and law will be part of studies.

The last step for nurse practitioner graduates before getting out there and practicing is passing the state’s certification exam.
